Role & Services

A range of dental services and education programs are delivered from the Oral Health Centre.

Dental education programs include formal tertiary and technical education courses delivered by The University of Western Australia, the Curtin University of Technology and the Central College of TAFE.  Specific information on these courses is available on this site for prospective students.

The primary programme of the School of Dentistry is the Bachelor of Dental Science degree.  All of the major dental disciplines are represented in this programme, specifically:

Other programs include short courses for dentists delivered by the University Continuing Dental Education Committee.

Dental services are provided to public dental patients, who are subject to an eligibility test, as well as to private patients through private practice arrangements entered into with some of the Centre’s general and specialist dentists.

Public dental services are available during the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, with some evening clinics operated by Pre-graduation Interns on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  An Emergency Clinic operates in the Centre’s Annexe in the E Block of Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.

Private dental clinics run by arrangement between the dentist and the Centre, but are generally in the evenings from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
